About the Butt Stops Here Certification Training

This program will train participants how to conduct and implement the award winning, evidence-based tobacco cessation program called The Butt Stops Here. By attending this program, participants will be able to:

• Provide immediately a smoking cessation program for interested participants
• Become knowledgeable of the cycle of addiction and how to effectively guide participants to become smoke free
• Understand how nicotine in cigarettes addicts and the vital role Nicotine Replacement medications play in helping to set smokers free
• Key strategies and elements that every program needs to attract participation and produce high retention rates
• Provide solid counseling techniques and state-of-the-art group facilitation skills
• Learn where and how to seek additional funding opportunities

About the Butt Stops Here

The BSH was developed and launched by Seton Health in 2001 based on funding that was received from the New York State Department of Health. 600 group programs have been offered over the past ten years throughout the Capital Region and have treated over 6,000 participants. The program boasts a completion rate of 60% and a one-year quit rate of 30%.
