The Butt Stops Here program began in 2001 and has provided services to over 7,000 residents in the Capital District. Our unique on-going program offers a combination of group support and education to assist you in your journey to quit smoking. We also provide a 4-6 week supply of nicotine patches or gum to those who qualify.

 

The program fee covers the cost of seven sessions, but participants are encouraged to attend the program as long as needed and can reregister for additional sessions at any time. In addition to nicotine patches or gum, the program also provides a workbook, relaxation CD, and a “survival kit.” The program is led by our highly skilled and experienced facilitators, many of whom are former Butt Stops Here participants.

 

The program meets once a week from 6:00-7:00pm at four locations in the Capital District:

Fee Schedule

 

  • $45 per 7 sessions
  • $20 for Medicaid enrollees
  • Program fee is covered by some insurance plans
  • Payment can be made by cash or check at first session
  • Fee includes: 4-6 weeks of nicotine patches or gum, a Butt Stops Here workbook, a relaxation CD, and a Quit Kit
  • Please note: Medicaid enrollees are eligible to receive nicotine patches and gum for free through their insurance provider. Medicaid participants should contact their health care provider for more information on how to obtain nicotine replacement therapy.

 

 

 

The Courage to Quit Program

The Butt Stops Here Worksite

 

The Butt Stops Here Program is conveniently available on-site for businesses interested in providing cessation services in the workplace. Helping your employees quit smoking not only helps to save their lives but also saves over $4,000 per year in lost productivity and health care costs. The Butt Stops Here Certification Cessation Training Program

 

The Center for Smoking Cessation offers a full day training on how to provide smoking cessation counselling services. The training includes tobacco education, counselling skills, information on the various quit smoking medications, and techniques/strategies on helping smokers stay quit. This training is ideal for a variety of professionals with an interest in and commitment to assisting others in becoming tobacco free. Click here for more information.
